Bold Transitional Kitchen Remodel in Lake Forest

The timeless appeal of a beautiful kitchen in grey, white, and natural tones is a combination that is bound to turn heads even while exuding understated elegance. With seating for four and a wide-open space for meal prep, the expansive ‘dark of night’ grey kitchen island adds contrast and dimension to the white quartz countertop. Included is a top-mount single-bowl farmhouse sink in stainless steel with a pull-down kitchen faucet and arc spout in matte black. Lining the perimeter walls are custom built straight shaker cabinets in white and ‘dark of night’ gray with matte black pulls and knobs. The gray cabinets look distinguished with a modern front and a sleek finish. Two upper cabinets feature clear glass inserts adding a pop of classic elegance. The porcelain tile back splash is laid in horizontally stacked, textured white subway tiles. A custom hood stained in a natural wood tone sits atop a new 48” cook top. To the left of the refrigerator lies a new coffee station as well as a pantry with a natural wood, sliding barn door. A new microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher were also included in this remodel.

Next to the kitchen once stood a completely stocked prep kitchen including an island. The homeowners decided to gut out the entire room and transform it into a multifunctional mud room and prep kitchen as well as a laundry room. Utilizing the same color scheme as the kitchen, the walls are lined in custom built cabinetry in ‘dark of night’ grey with white quartz countertops. Included is an undermount single-bowl farmhouse sink with a pull-down kitchen faucet, arc spout and soap dispenser in stainless steel. A brand-new refrigerator, built-in microwave and dishwasher in stainless steel were also factored into the design. To the left, a custom locker was incorporated for additional storage including hooks and drawers to help keep things tidy. A partial wall and a double sliding barn door system was installed to section off the brand new laundry room. White shaker cabinets line the top half of the laundry room along with a textured white porcelain subway tile backsplash. The flooring was redone using large Elysium porcelain stone tiles in natural grigio.
