Modern Kitchen Remodel with a Universal Design in Laguna Woods

With this kitchen remodel based in a 55+ community in Laguna Woods, a couple getting ready to retire knew they needed to start planning ahead. They reached out to Sea Pointe Design & Remodel to help get them started on designing their new forever kitchen.

Included in a whole home remodel, a fully custom kitchen and dining room were redesigned. New, easy to clean, luxury vinyl plank wood flooring extends throughout the kitchen and dining area as well as the entire house. The dining room features custom niche cut-outs, perfectly sized to fit our clients’ favorite hand-blown glass sculptures. Overhead, the ceiling was raised to include a tray design with an LED light trough and square trim recessed lights.

There were many challenges our designer and architect needed to factor in when creating an entirely new kitchen layout for a third-floor condo built in the 1970’s. Including cabinetry by Omega and Kitchen Craft, the kitchen drawers feature a push-touch system including a soft close function. The super modern, upper acrylic cabinets include special hydraulic hinges that allow the cabinets to open like a garage door. The kitchen island features a quartz countertop with a waterfall edge and acrylic back panel. Blending into the cabinetry is an integrated refrigerator with custom front panels as well as a sub-zero compact refrigerator. Inspired by the rich texture of bamboo, the porcelain tile backsplash features a wall mounted hood range and additional outlets. The kitchen was upgraded with an abundance of special features including a built-in coffee system, a temperature-controlled wine fridge and a single electric wall oven including a microwave and a warming drawer.
