Whether your sense of design style leads you to a sleek contemporary kitchen design style, classic traditional or dramatic showpiece kitchen, our talented kitchen designers will lead you step-by-step through the process on how to design your kitchen remodel. When you partner with our kitchen designers, every detail will be considered; from the major decisions to the minor details nothing will be overlooked. With over 35 years experience designing and remodeling kitchens in Orange County, we’ve learned a thing or two and have check-lists for everything you can imagine. Did you know that there are over 40 different ways to customize your kitchen cabinets? In addition to our decades of kitchen remodeling experience, we employ Six Sigma processes in our kitchen remodeling to ensure we are providing the best service and quality we can to our So Cal remodeling clients. We guarantee you will be impressed, whether you need a large or small kitchen remodel.
Kitchen Remodeling Permits Process
Our experience remodeling kitchens also makes us very familiar with each of Orange County’s city permitting processes, professional construction document requirements, zoning laws, setback requirements, and necessary lead and asbestos testing; this alone makes the construction process flow much smoother. Single team general contractor operations may not have the same experience navigating multiple city municipalities simultaneously. Due to the volume of kitchen remodels Sea Pointe does, we have multiple professional construction teams and project managers on the ready as well as electrical and plumbing specialists as each job necessitates.
Each city has different requirements unique to the standards of that city based on city planning requirements. In Mission Viejo alone, there are 20 compliance codes that must be adhered to when remodeling a kitchen; we make this painless for you and stay on top of residential remodeling legislation inclusive of California Electrical Code, California Residential Code, California Mechanical Code, California Plumbing Code, California Energy Code, California Green Building Standards Code, and the California Civil Code by city.
The great news is that not only do we have our city remodeling permitting process down, but we’re also delivering quality workmanship that passes city inspection first time, every time. If you have not remodeled, you may not know the process of getting your work approved by the city at important parts of the construction process. One specific is plumbing and you should be happy that the city does do these inspections as it holds your builder accountable to provide quality work that is safe and up to code. This protects your investment and ensures your kitchen remodel keeps you and your family safe.
Get the Kitchen You’ve Always Wanted
“I never felt abandoned. I always knew what was going to happen.”
“You’re going to see progress, and you’re going to start to feel the kitchen come to life. And it really did. It FAR exceeded our expectations. They removed the small kitchen footprint that we had and just extended it all the way out, and gave us a beautiful, big island that works for our family. We entertain a lot, so it’s perfect. It exceeded our expectations. It really did.”

How much does a Kitchen Remodel cost?
Kitchen remodel costs depend heavily on current kitchen size, kitchen renovation plan requirements, and materials selected during the kitchen design process. One of our expert Kitchen Designers will walk you through the process and guide you based on how much you’d like to remodel and the budget you have in mind.
For example, doing a kitchen remodel that includes structural changes to your home would not be possible on a modest budget. However, your Kitchen Designer can steer you in the direction that is right for your family, your kitchen remodel budget and your kitchen design preferences.
How long should a kitchen remodel take to complete?
This is a tricky question on Kitchen Remodel timelines as each kitchen size and functionality will vary by client. Things to consider even in a smaller remodel are whether you are moving plumbing and electrical or whether your layout will stay the same.
For a modest remodel that requires plumbing or electrical move, it may take between 8-12 weeks. As you add changes in plumbing, electrical, and architectural changes, you keep sliding the calendar out.
Do I need permits for a kitchen remodel?
Do I need an architect for a kitchen remodel?
This depends on the scope of your remodel. Simple improvements to your kitchen, such as installing new cabinets, flooring, and sink would not require an architect. However, if you are looking to add an island, move your range, or change your kitchen layout, you will need an architect. An architect looks into the walls and ground of your home to understand where your electrical and plumbing are as well as load-bearing walls and supports. It’s when you start to affect these elements that you need an architect.
You do not necessarily need an architect, pending the city you live in, you may hire a qualified designer that also does blueprints and get a twofer. This professional can design you a beautiful kitchen plan while also delivering your blueprints. This approach will typically save you some money. Be sure to check licenses and insurance on any professional that you contract to work on your home. After all, this is your home and anything that goes wrong may become your responsibility. This means potential property liens and lawsuits when working with the wrong individuals.
Check out cslb.ca.gov to ensure you are working with a licensed and insured professional. Also, be sure the professional you are hiring is using a license with their business name and not using a “friend’s” as these are not transferable. Be safe when remodeling and check your contractors!
