10 Creative Range Hood Cover Ideas to Remake Your Kitchen

10 Creative Range Hood Cover Ideas to Remake Your Kitchen

When you think about remodeling your kitchen, the usual suspects that come to mind are new countertops, shiny cabinets, dazzling backsplashes, and upgraded appliances. But there’s one element many people overlook: the range hood cover.

Natural-woods-kitchen-design-in-remodel - kitchen design features

Surprisingly, this functional piece can double as a statement design feature, upgrading the overall look of your kitchen. If you’re planning a remodel, exploring fresh range hood cover ideas could be the key to creating a standout space.

Do You Even Need a Range Hood?

Backsplash accent in San Clemente kitchen remodel

Here’s the truth: technically, not all kitchens require a range hood. If you don’t cook often or your kitchen is naturally ventilated, you might think you can skip it.

However, most kitchens benefit from having one, especially if local building codes recommend it. Range hoods help maintain cleaner air and prevent cooking odors and grease from sticking to walls and furniture.

Why You’ll Want a Range Hood in Your Kitchen

Even if you don’t cook daily, your kitchen will accumulate invisible grease and steam over time. So, a range hood isn’t just a luxury. It’s a practical solution to some of these problems.

Why you should build a kitchen island

For homes where cooking is a daily activity, a powerful range hood is essential for maintaining air quality. So, while it might not seem like a big deal, choosing the right hood makes a significant difference.

7 Key Factors to Consider When Choosing a Range Hood Cover

Before diving into a specific range hood cover, it’s essential to understand the factors that guide your choice:

1. Your Kitchen Layout and Space Requirements

Think about your kitchen size and layout. A range hood cover should fit seamlessly into the design while leaving enough clearance for safety. Typically, hoods are installed 24 to 30 inches above the range.

2. Selecting the Right Exhaust System

Range hoods come with either a ducted or duct-free system. Ducted systems vent air outside, making them more efficient. Meanwhile, duct-free systems recirculate air, requiring frequent filter changes.

3. Energy Efficiency and Fan Power

The fan’s cubic feet per minute (CFM) measures how much air it moves. Multiply your kitchen’s volume by eight to determine the CFM you need for adequate air circulation.

4. Noise Levels

Nobody wants a loud, distracting fan in the background. Look for models designed to be both powerful and quiet, drawing air toward the edges instead of relying on a large central surface.

5. Range Hood Style and Design

Range hood covers are no longer just functional but also a focal point. Whether you prefer rustic charm, modern minimalism, or bold colors, there’s a style to suit every taste.

7. Budgeting for Your Range Hood

Costs can vary based on size, materials, and custom features like built-in lighting or heat sensors. Prioritize the features that matter most to you.

8. Custom Features for Added Convenience

Smart hoods with timers, remote controls, or energy-saving features are increasingly popular in modern kitchens.

3. Tapered Hood with Decorative Backsplash Pairings

4. Custom Cabinetry Range Hoods with Intricate Details

Add intricate trim to a cabinetry-style hood for a classic, elegant look that works well in traditional kitchens.

5. Massive Rustic Hoods for Bold Kitchens

A massive rustic hood, perhaps paired with a stainless-steel insert, creates a bold and functional centerpiece.

6. Oversized Hoods Above Double Ovens

Double ovens deserve a custom hood that matches their grandeur. Opt for a large design to tie it all together.

7. Tapered Hood Designs with Timeless Crown Moulding

Crown moulding adds sophistication to a tapered hood, blending traditional elegance with modern sensibilities.

8. Stone-trimmed Hoods for a Luxe Finish

Stone trims, especially marble, add luxury and a unique texture to your hood, boosting your kitchen’s aesthetic.

9. Architectural Arch Supports for Mediterranean Flair

Arched supports on your range hood add a touch of Greek or Mediterranean elegance, making it a true showstopper.

10. Bold, Colorful Hood Covers That Pop

Step outside the box with vibrant colors like deep blue, emerald green, or bright red. A colorful hood can be the highlight of your kitchen.

The Role of Custom Range Hood Covers in Modern Kitchen Design

Overall, custom range hood covers are important in enhancing your kitchen design. This is often the element that is overlooked in any kitchen remodel, but many do not realize that your range hood cover can make a huge difference. Speak with a designer to guide you in the right direction. Even if you are on a budget, you can still achieve function and beauty when working with a professional!

Conclusion

From functionality to style, range hood covers are an essential yet often overlooked part of a kitchen remodel. They improve air quality, protect your surfaces, and add character to your space.

With our perfect weather and many working from home these days, now is the most opportune time to start your California Room remodel.

The California Room is also used as a space to get out of the house, but not too far away to unwind or get some fresh air. Some spaces even include features meant for entertaining family and guests such as a firepit, TV, wet bar, or beverage center.

If you’re considering adding rooms to your home, explore our room additions and remodeling services to help you get started.

More Than the Sunroom

We are familiar with the outdoor space of a sunroom; however, California Rooms are much more than that. Sunrooms allow in a vast amount of daylight into the space and often a wonderful view of the outdoors through large windows of glass. This space serves a different style and function than a California Room.

The difference is that a California Room can be seen as an addition that expands the feeling and space of the original home. There are more design possibilities since the space is used for more than just sunlight. Work with your designer and get creative about what to include in your new space.

From adding herringbone flooring, an electric firepit, a wet bar, motorized sunshades, comfy furniture, to even a full outdoor kitchen to entertain near the pool, the options are endless.

The Luxurious Outdoors

Just because it is an outdoor space, it doesn’t mean it can’t be luxurious! The beautiful architecture of these spaces that date back to the traditional European design and even the Hawaiian lanai, offer stunning design features that elevate the look.

If you are going for a more upscale design, our designers suggest adding a ceiling fan, pendant lighting, patterned flooring, mist sprayers for the hot summer days, and even sleek cabinetry for outdoor entertainment storage.

Most importantly, you want to make sure this space entails comfortable high-quality furniture such as a couch, chairs, or coffee table.

8 Bathroom Tile Ideas: Utilizing Tiles in Different Ways

8 Bathroom Tile Ideas: Utilizing Tiles in Different Ways

Ready for a bathroom refresh? Before speaking to a contractor about your bathroom remodel, consider the overall design you would like. One of the most fun parts of remodeling is picking the tile you want in your bathroom. From the shower to the flooring, to the vanity backsplash, there are many places to implement your bathroom tile ideas.

Along with designating where you want to place your bathroom tile, another thing to consider is how you use the tile. Same tiles can be used but in different shapes or patterns to switch things up and create a meaningful design. Our professional designers break down utilizing the same tiles in different ways to maximize the design in your new space.

1. Same Tiles on Bathroom Floor and Shower Wall

beautiful bathroom tile with porcelain floor

Porcelain tile is one of the most popular when it comes to using the same tile design on bathroom flooring and shower walls. Porcelain is easier to clean than most other materials and is lower maintenance. Porcelain bathroom tile is also versatile and can be used in different places.

Using the same bathroom tile for your flooring and shower walls can create a very cohesive look. Popular ways to do this is by using monochromatic colors, the same tile pattern, or using complementary colors that go well with your vanity.

2. Simplified Tile Palette

Create a clean look in your bathroom remodels by using a simplified tile palette of combining no more than 3 different kinds of tile patterns. In addition, for a cohesive and sleek design, make sure to use bathroom tiles that are similar in color and shape.

The most simplified design is to go with just one tile pattern on your shower wall. Accent niches can be very beautiful and act as statement pieces, but it does tend to draw attention. So, if you are more interested in creating a subtle polished appearance, then we suggest going with one tile pattern and color for your bathroom.

3. Design Patterns with a Purpose

One of the huge benefits of working with a design and build remodeling firm is that you get a designer and a team of construction workers working all under one roof. This ultimately means that there is one point of responsibility and accountability for making sure your project runs as smoothly and enjoyable as possible.

Another huge benefit is that a design and builds firm designs with a purpose. For example, in this master bathroom remodel, the same tiles were used along the shower and tub wall but installed in a different pattern to achieve a look that was more fun instead of sticking with the traditional subway style pattern along the whole wall. The shower wall tile is in a subway pattern while the tub wall uses the same tile, but in a herringbone style.

4. Contrasting Shapes

beautiful modern bathroom

If you are going for more fun and vibrant vibe in your bathroom renovation, choose a design that incorporates contrasting bathroom tile shapes. For example, this bathroom remodel uses large rectangular porcelain tiles in the shower and smaller tiles in a colder color behind the tub in a chevron design pattern. For the shower floor, you will also notice a mosaic design with many different colors in tiny rectangles for a textured look.

Your eye travels throughout this bathroom as there are many beautiful design elements in the choice of tiles. The colors compliment each other and do not take away from the design. The use of different shapes set this bathroom apart from others and give it a modern touch.

5. Imitate Materials

beautiful blue bathtub

One of the most creative bathroom tile designs is using a material to mock the look of another. Marble is up there on the list of luxurious materials, but if you are on a budget, you may not be able to tile your whole bathroom with the beautiful stone.

Take, for instance, this master bathroom remodel in Dana Point. Behind the vanity is a gorgeous wall build with mosaic marble. Behind the tub is a wall built with porcelain tile that is made to mimic the design of natural marble stone. This is a solution that saves money while still incorporating a stunning bathroom design.

6. Add Movement to Your Tiles

modern bathroom with tile

Another way to make a statement in your bathroom with tiles is by using tiles in a way to give the illusion of movement. This trick can be done in a few different ways. One way to create movement with tiles is by using tiles with circular patterns on them. When each piece is laid out side by side, it creates the illusion of movement.

Creating movement with tiles can also be done by using bold colored tiles along with reflective pieces. The glare given off on these tiles will create the movement of light, making this a creative and bold statement piece.

7. Subway Tiles

bathroom with subway tiles

If you are aiming for a classic but timeless design, the subway tile is fitting for your bathroom aesthetic. They come in a variety of colors, sizes, and can be played vertically, horizontally, or even in niche accents.

An example of a gorgeous bathroom shower design with subway tiles as a shampoo niche accent is this one above. The blue accent in this bright shower gives this space a nice bold contrast while staying classy at the same time. This is also one of the most popular style choices and trusts us, it will not be going out of style anytime soon!

8. Large Tiles

bathroom with large tiles

Large-format tiles have several functionality benefits while keeping a fresh design. Large bathroom tiles tend to be easier to clean because there are less grout lines. The use of large tiles also give off the appearance of a large space, so this is perfect for a bathroom with smaller square footage.

Large tiles in a bathroom also give an elegant touch. This is a beautiful example of a bathroom shower design that uses large-format tiles in an intimate shower space. The large pieces make the space feel larger than it is and provide a refreshing design.

Change the Way You View Your Bathroom

Overall, there are many different bathroom tiling ideas and ways to utilize tiles with different patterns, colors, shapes, and sizes. Just because you have a small or large space, it does not limit your design possibilities.

Therefore, we recommend contacting a design and build specialist to ensure you are maximizing the design and craftsmanship quality of your next remodel.
