GOING
GREEN IN 2007:
Green Design is a growing trend within many fields of design.
It is defined as the art of designing physical objects to
comply with the principles of economic, social, & ecological
sustain-ability.
The essential aim of sustainable design is to produce places,
products & services in a way that reduces the use of
non-renewable resources and minimizes the impact on the
environment.
Principles of Green Design:
Low-impact materials which are non-toxic, sustainably produced
or recycled and require little energy to process
Energy
efficient by using manufacturing processes to produce products
which require less energy
Longer-lasting and better-functioning products need to be
replaced less frequently, reducing the impacts of producing
replacements
Products,
processes, and systems should be designed for reuse and
recycling in a commercial afterlife
